A Support Coordinator helps you understand your NDIS plan, connects you with the right service providers, monitors your support delivery, responds to problems and prepares reports for your plan reviews. Think of them as your expert guide through the NDIS system — so you don't have to navigate it alone.
Level 1 Support Coordination focuses on helping you understand your plan and build your own coordination skills. Level 2 is more intensive — managing complex situations across multiple providers. Specialist Support Coordination is for participants with highly complex circumstances, such as involvement with the justice system, mental health services or hospital transitions. GenCare provides all three levels.
Support Coordination is funded through your Capacity Building budget in your NDIS plan. It does not come from your Core Supports budget, so it does not reduce funding for other services like personal care or community access. If you are unsure whether your plan includes Support Coordination funding, GenCare can review your plan with you for free.
Yes — you can change Support Coordinator at any time. If you are unhappy with your current coordinator, you have the right to switch providers. GenCare will work with you to ensure a smooth transition and will not charge any exit fees.
Specialist Support Coordination is a higher-intensity coordination service for participants facing highly complex situations — such as people transitioning from hospital or prison, those with significant mental health or psychosocial needs, or participants whose support networks have broken down. It involves intensive barrier resolution, multi-agency engagement and crisis stabilisation.
Psychosocial Support Coordination is Support Coordination tailored for participants whose primary disability is psychosocial — related to mental health conditions. It focuses on recovery, building stability, reducing crisis episodes and connecting participants with appropriate mental health and community supports. GenCare's coordinators have specific experience in this area.
